Stirling Moss leads Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1955 Italian Grand Prix. The two Mercedes-Benz drivers had dominated the season with five wins "&"and the drivers' championship with first and second place. Moss retired with engine failure halfway through the race, leaving Fangio to clinch his fourth victory and third world championship title. Fangio crossed the finish line on the high-speed Monza tr"&"ack with a clear 40 seconds gap to the Ferrari, which was a distant third, and teammate Piero Taruffi in second place.
