After the withdrawal of the Jaguar and Aston Ma"&"rtin factory teams, Ferrari's path to victory at Le Mans in 1960 was more feasible than in previous years. Briggs Cunningham, as team principal, fielded a 5-liter Corvette, which John Fitch and Bob Grossman drove to eighth place. However, the Scuderia Fer"&"rari Testa Rossa 59/60 of Paul Frère and Olivier Gendebien took the overall victory ahead of another Ferrari Testa Rossa driven by Ricardo Rodriguez and André Pilette. The Border Reivers Team's Aston Martin DBR1/300 finished third, driven by none other th"&"an Jim Clark and Roy Salvadori—both Formula 1 drivers of their era. An illustrious array of brands and drivers crossed the finish line in the remaining places: The DB HBR4 of Automobiles Deutsch & Bonet, starting number 48, driven by Paul Armagnac and Gér"&"ard Laureau, finished fifteenth and won the 850 cc category. The Porsche 356 B Abarth GTL with Herbert Linge and Hans-Joachim Walter reached 10th place and won the 1.6 l category.
