Porsche wasn't the favorite for the overall classification in 1967 – but in the 2-liter class, they were hoping for a top result and the commercial appeal of their Le Mans successes. "&"Jo Siffert and Hans Herrmann drove the 6-cylinder 907 Longtail Porsche to fifth place overall and the category win. Jochen Rindt and Gerhard Mitter drove the identical car but unfortunately retired on lap 103 after nine hours of driving. In 1965, Rindt wo"&"n the legendary endurance race with Masten Gregory in a Ferrari 250 LM.
