In the 1953 Le Mans 24 hour race, the Scuderia Lancia team entered three of their beautifully designed Pinin Farina D20s - all fitted with a supercharged 2.7 liter V6 engine. The watercolor shows the starting number 63, driven by the successful Formula 1 driver José Froilán González. He shared the race at the wheel of the D20 with racing veteran Clemente Biondetti. Here he is chasing through the Esses, pursued by a Talbot Lago and a Ferrari. After a long and hard-fought race, they retired in the twenty-first hour with engine problems.
