The hunt for the big dream – finally winning Le Mans seemed within reach in 2014. Bolstered by second place last year, tied lap with the 2013-winning Audi, Toyota increased its budget to build a winning car. The TS040 shown here coming out of the box was equipped with a powerful hybrid system. While they dominated elsewhere, despite five out of eight wins in the WEC Championship and Anthony Davidson's and Sebastien Buemi's wins in the Drivers' World Championship, a Le Mans win remained a dream.
