The hunting season really did start for Porsche in 2014. The brand's most interesting comeback in decades. Both vehicles racing towards the observer had a chance of winning the LMP 1 class in Le Mans. The 919 hybrid vehicles represented a completely new concept for the Zuffenhausen team - building on the success of the LMP2 RS Spyders from the previous decade. With a top line-up of drivers and a well-trained pit crew, hopes for an opening win were high after 15 years of silence. But despite legitimate chances over almost the entire race distance, the dream did not come true in 2014.
