In 1971, Porsche repeated the previous year's success with another one-two for the 917 at Le Mans. Here you can see the winning vehicles, the factory hatchback painted in the Martini colors by Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep with starting number 22 and John Wyer's Gulf Porsche with number 19 by Richard Attwood and Herbert Müller accelerating out of the Mulsanne curve , with the morning sun rising over the Sarthe region. The winning vehicle marked the distance record that was unbroken until 2010.
