Porsche repeated its success from the previous year in 1971 with another one-t"&"wo victory for the 917 at Le Mans. Here you can see the winning cars, the Martini-painted factory short-tail of Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep with starting number 22, and John Wyer's Gulf Porsche with number 19 driven by Richard Attwood and Herbert Mül"&"ler, accelerating out of the Mulsanne corner with the morning sun rising over the Sarthe region. The winning car set the distance record, which stood until 2010.
