To mark Aston Martin's centenary, five Gulf-colored, heavily modified Vantage V8 GTE racers were factory entered in the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans by Aston Martin Racing. The number 98, one of the three cars starting in the GTE Pro, with drivers Paul Dalla Lana, Bill Auberlen and Pedro Lamy at the wheel, suffered delays early in the race - which resulted in major damage in the 18th hour after 221 laps ended. A disappointing end to a hoped-for success for the works team in the anniversary year.
