Jo Siffert enjoyed a successful career on two wheels before breaking into the world of Formula 1. In 1968 he won the British Grand Prix at a wet Brands Hatch in the Rob Walker Racing Team's new Lotus 49B. He beat Chris Amon in his Ferrari after a duel over the full race distance. This win is considered the last GP win by a true privateer team. Here, in the same vehicle at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, the outcome was not so happy. With just nine laps to go, he had to give up second place with rear suspension damage. The scene shows him in free practice – still without a start number.
