This Porsche 908/2 Spyder, sta"&"rting number 266, driven by Gerhard Mitter and Udo Schütz, currently being refueled in the pits, was the overall winner of the grueling 1969 Targa Florio, held on the mountainous Sicilian island of the Circuito Piccollo delle Madonie. Of the 79 starters, "&"a total of 38 finished the race, completing the distance of ten laps of 72 km each. Not long after this race, both drivers survived a horrific crash in another 908 at Le Mans. Schütz subsequently retired from racing. Mitter died in practice for the German"&" Grand Prix a few weeks later. In 1993, Schütz was part of the team that won the Admiral's Cup for Germany with the yacht ""Container.""
