Following the success of the DBR 9 program in the mid-1990s, Aston Martin returned to the GT class as a works team to rejoin the battle with Corvette, Ferrari and Porsche. The new Vantage, which had presented itself excellently in the two previous endurance world championship rounds, finished third in the GTE Pro Class with the line-up of Mücke/Fernandez/Turner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2012.
