Like many of his contemporaries, Juan Manuel Fangio competed in a variety of different motorsport categorie"&"s and cars during a single season. And so it was in 1953, when the future five-time Formula 1 World Champion combined his Grand Prix season with endurance races. He started the year with a victory at the Carrera Panamericana in his home country of Argenti"&"na and made his debut at the Targa Florio in a Maserati A6 GCS.
