24 Hours of Le Mans 2011
Audi R18 #2
Drivers: Marcel Fassler, André Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer
1st place overall, 1st place in LMP1
Audi's chances of defending the Le Mans crown had to be seriously questioned when first Allan McNish and then Mike Rockenfeller destroyed their R18 TDIs before midnight. That left the hopes of the German brand resting solely on the shoulders of Tréluyer/Lotterer/Fässler, who withstood the pressure of the three works Peugeots and won with a lead of 13.8 seconds. One of the closest results in Le Mans history. In the picture, Pedro Lamy is chasing Fässler in the “Esses”. The other two Peugeots already appear in the background, lying in wait under the Dunlop arch.
