After achieving great successes of the predecessors Audi R8 and R10, one was obliged. Audi released their all-new Silver Arrow for the classic season opener at Sebring in March 2009. The Ingolstadt squadron already held an enviable record of eight overall wins in ten attempts before they returned to the crime scene in Florida and the revolutionary R15 had even completed a wheel rotation. Against the old opponent Peugeot, as well as against Acura's new LMP1 project, the experienced team of McNish, Kristensen and Capello once again proved to be too strong. In a thrilling 12-hour race, start number 2 finished just 22 seconds ahead of the first 908 HDI.
