Nordschleife 1957: A magician at work. Chasing his fifth world title in the Maserati 250 F, Juan Manuel Fangio found himself 50 seconds behind the leading Ferraris. Over the next ten laps, Fangio beat the lap record lap after lap before catching up with Collins and Hawthorn. He completely surprised both of them and won what is perhaps the most legendary of his races by a margin of 3.6 seconds. "I've never ridden that fast in my life and I'll probably never be able to go faster either," said Fangio after the race.
