John Surtees, the only World Champion on both two and four wheels, weaves his Ferrari 312 through the hairpin maze at Monaco 1966. The Englishman qualified on pole position but only held the lead until lap 16 before a gearbox failure eliminated him from the race. The pursuer Jackie Stewart, who is taking the Mirabeau curve in the background of the picture, drove to victory in the Principality at the wheel of his BRM.
