“In 2008 I was instrumental in Greg Pickett being able to fulfill his childhood dream of competing in a 24-hour race at Le Mans. Together with Le Mans winner Jan Lammers, Greg and I formed a driver pairing and we were doing well as a private team among the LMP 1 works teams. The pre-start at Le Mans is a special experience and it was Greg's wish to drive the start. The emotions that overcame him and all of us at the start were so touching and fulfilling that this was a very special Le Mans moment for me. Jan and I had to remind him that the race was about to start and that he had to concentrate on the start. Few events can arouse such emotions and feelings in people.”
