#1028 Twyffelfontein Dragonflies

The Twyffelfontein Lodge is a collection of modern buildings with large glass panels at the front, through which one enters the lodge. From each building, one looks out over a unique plain in Damaraland. Twyffelfontein is derived from the Dutch word fo"&"r doubt. The Jewish man who, with a donkey cart and his small family, searched for and used the spring from then on, was unsure whether the water from the mountains behind it would reliably supply him.

That it does is demonstrated by the presence o"&"f dragonflies and all kinds of butterflies that constantly flutter around the lodge. These, in turn, ensure that at night, there are actually frog songs that interrupt the chirping of crickets on the grassy meadows. The colors of the dragonflies are simpl"&"y outstandingly beautiful.

This Painting was created at the Twyffelfontein Lodge. In the foreground, the view extends over the stones with millennia-old petroglyphs by the area's indigenous people, who used them to forever capture watering hol"&"es and hunted animals through their wonderful animal symbolism.
