The Ferrari 250 GTO was the pre-eminent GT racing car in 1962. The Belgian team owner Pierre Noblet and the French driver Jean Guichet formed an extremely successful driver duo in the years 1961 to 1963. In 1962 they came second overall in the Ferrari GTO. Jean Guichet's greatest achievement was overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with team partner Nino Vaccarella in 1964 in a works Ferrari 275P. He remained a Ferrari works driver until 1966 and that year he competed with Lorenzo Bandini in the legendary Ferrari 330 P3 against the American Ford armada at the Sarthe.
