Fiat 500 Series 1 and Series 2
Viewed from Piazzo San Marco, looking down on Florence
Few human-made products are considered icons of their field, even if they are purely practical in nature and lack any luxury attributes. Creating a product "&"that appeals to many, is appealing to many, offers great utility, and yet is described as ""great"" and widely loved, completely value-free and image-free, is every designer's dream. Dante Giacosa achieved this with the Fiat 500 in 1957, and his design wa"&"s successfully produced and sold until 1975. It was actually called the Nuova 500, as it replaced the already highly successful Fiat 500 Topolino. The fact that the modern version today follows the basic design ideas and is once again successful shows how"&" much design can express and contain emotions.
