The Sossusvlei valley is about 60 kilometers deep. It extends in the south from the steadily increasing dunes of the Namib to the Naukluft mountains in the north of the valley. The Namib is constantly taking parts of the valley. Your dunes keep growing. In contrast, the mountains of the Naukluft supply rainwater that flows into the lake at the end of the valley - and feeds the animals of the Naukluft.
