Le Mans 24 Hours 2019
Ford GT #66
Stefan Mücke, Olivier Pla, Billy Johnson
25th place overall 6th place GTE Pro category
Ford returned to the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours. Multimatic had a spectacular body idea with the two wind tunnels that flatter the rear end. When they returned, exactly 50 years to the day after their first victory in Le Mans, they won the 24-hour race for Ford again – albeit this time only in the GTE category. In the three years that followed, the Balance of Performance northed the balance of power and the GT teams had a harder time in the GTE Pro and GTE Amateur categories. In 2019, however, the Wynns-sponsored Multimatic rocket celebrated the amateur class and the GT works rocket with the number 68 was well placed in the pro class. Unfortunately, only to have the victories stripped from both vehicles shortly after the award ceremony due to the slightly too large tank volume. At Le Mans, euphoria and sadness are only “milliliter” apart. The #66 came sixth in the 2019 LMGTE Pro with drivers Stefan Mücke, Olivier Pla and Billy Johnson.
