The Corvette in the ALMS is always a serious competitor. For two decades, victory in the GTE category only went to the yellow racers from Detroit. The C7.R pictured with Mike Rockenfeller, Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia only came third in 2018 for the first time in a long time. The Ford GT of the Multimatic troop from Canada was the superior vehicle on this day due to its revolutionary design and landed a Daytona 24 hour double victory. The Corvette, however, held off the strong competition from Porsche, Ferrari and BMW and made it onto the podium.
