The Morgan Plus 4 is the only roadster to date based on a wooden frame. The outstanding properties of wood are constantly being rediscovered, so it is not surprising that the basis of the Plus 4 has been handcrafted unchanged since 1935. The Le Mans class victory in 1962 with the Plus 4 weighing only 790 kg by Chris Lawrence and Richard Shephard-Barron attracted attention, as did in the years 1962 to 1964 when they competed in the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring, where they took first and second place in 1963 in the 2 liter class.
