#0591 Porsche 904 GTS
#0591 Porsche 904 GTS
The racing version of the versatile and remarkably tough 904, or Carrera GTS, designed by "Butzi" Porsche, was released by the factory in late 1963 to compete in the FIA GT class the following season - in parallel with the road version following homologation rules enough to do. It has a frame chassis, a Heinkel fiberglass body and is equipped with a 2 liter four-cylinder mid-engine and five-speed gearbox. The GTS accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds and reached a top speed of around 240 km/h. Already in the first year of use it was first and second in the Targa Florio, third in the 1000 km Nürburgring, class winner in Le Mans and second in the Monte Carlo Rally in 1965 - the exact same car that was second in the Targa Florio the year before. A very successful model.
