The widely heralded news of Porsche's return to the LMP1 class at Le Mans in 2014 with the 919 Hybrid racing car was followed in 2015 by a triple appearance in red, white, and black"&", making it easy to identify the respective Porsches. Presumably due to a time penalty, the favorite, starting number 17, painted red as a tribute to the first overall winner, the Porsche 917 in 1970, was overtaken by the white car with the number 19, thu"&"s achieving a surprise victory – the first overall victory since 1998. Porsche also won its first manufacturers' title since 1986.

The standard format specifications mentioned indicate the outer dimensions of the stretcher frames.
