The widely announced news of Porsche's return to the LMP1 class at Le Mans in 2014 with the 919 hybrid racing car was followed in 2015 by a triple appearance in red, white and black, which made it easy to identify the respective Porsche. Presumably due to a time penalty, the favourite, starting number 17, painted red as a tribute to the first overall winner, the Porsche 917, was overtaken by the white car with number 19 in 1970 - which landed a surprise victory - the first overall victory since 1998. Porsche won with it also the first brand title since 1986.
