Against strong competition from the fast and improved Toyotas, many second places in the run-up to the big race and the new Porsche 919, the question was whether Audi would win again with their heavily revised R18 E-Tron Quattro. They had succeeded a dozen times before, but was it possible again? The painting shows the whispering giant gliding almost silently over the track. With lights like laser swords, Tom Kristensen fights his way through the approaching darkness. It finished second, and with the sister car as the winner, the thirteenth victory came true for Audi.
