Anglo-American collaborations couldn't end better than in the case of the AC Cobra. The first sports car that dared to mix a light and delicate chassis with brutal power. With Ford backing it was Carroll Shelby, the former Le Mans winner, who was instrumental in the AC Ace's transformation. The Ace was an attractive if underpowered roadster built by the small English company AC Cars that Shelby turned into the powerful V8 Cobra that shocked the world upon its release in 1965.
