Formula 1, Grand Prix de Monaco 1962,
Dan Gurney, 5th place
Ferrari 156 V6 "Sharknose" Phil Hill, 3rd place
Cooper T60 V8, Bruce McLaren, winner
Bruce McLaren's Cooper T60 leads Phil Hill in the Ferrari 'Shark's Mouth' 156 and Dan Gurney's Porsche 804 F8 through Monaco's tight corners. The New Zealander wins this Grand Prix just 1.3 seconds ahead of Hill, while the second Ferrari, with Lorenzo Bandini at the wheel, finishes on the podium in third, albeit 90 seconds back. Gurney's brand new Porsche was just getting ready for the first Grand Prix of the 1962 season. In qualifying, Gurney had set a promising third best time. Team partner Joakim Bonnier was still driving last year's car, but it made it to the finish line.
