When you mention the Atlanta-based Robertson Racing company, you think it's the usual mix of an established privateer team with a roster of cash-strapped drivers. You couldn't be further from the truth! After a successful career in the aircraft industry, David Robertson and his wife Andrea, a grandmother, got into racing late in life. With fairly limited experience from the American Le Mans Series, the family business decided in 2011 to enter the world's largest endurance race for the first time, choosing the unusual Ford GT-R, built by Kevin Doran, as their race car. Supported by the experienced David Murry, the three Le Mans beginners drove an almost flawless race to the finish. This is already a great success. They achieved third place in the GTE-AM class and finished 26th overall. The only married couple team to ever stand on the podium. It was also their wedding anniversary!
