Steve McQueeen waits patiently as the John Wyer Team's Porsche 917K pulls into the pits at La Sarthe 1970. In the film "Le Mans", which only partially corresponds to the actual course of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, McQueen's character, Michael Delaney, has an accident with his 917 before he helps the team achieve overall victory. In reality, it was Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood who wrote Porsche's first overall victory in the history books at Le Mans with their team Salzburg 917K, while McQueen's number 20 Gulf-Porsche, actually driven by Jo Siffert and Brian Redman, experienced engine problems failed.
