Volker Weidler's Mazda 787 B was chased by the favorites Mercedes and Jaguar through th"&"e early morning at Le Sarthe. The longer the race continued, the clearer Mazda's real chance of winning this race became. Even the team and its three drivers, Johnny Herbert, Bertrand Gachot, and Volker Weidler, couldn't believe their eyes as they steadil"&"y climbed the standings from 12th place on the grid to actually lead and ultimately win. To date, the only victory for a Japanese car and a Wankel engine.

The standard format specifications mentioned indicate the outer dimensions of the stretcher frames.
The stretcher frames ar"&"e 2 cm deep. The wooden slats of the stretcher frames are approximately 3 cm wide.
