Perhaps the most famous sports car o"&"f all time races out of the Arnage corner toward the Porsche Curves. Not a single Gulf-colored Porsche 917 driven by John Wyer will complete the entire distance in 1970, but thanks to Hollywood and Steve McQueen, the Gulf-colored 917s are given a legend t"&"hat isn't true for Le Mans 1970. The #20 917 crashes in the film. David Piper lost a leg during filming for the stunts because he performed the crash scene in the Porsche curves too violently. However, the painted scene in Uli Ehret's watercolor depicts t"&"he final lap in the film, when McQueen switched to the #21 917 and blocked ""Erich Stahler"" so that the leading #22 Porsche could win.
